GATHERING
OPENING HYMN
CHIMING OF THE HOUR
WELCOMING THE LIGHT – Officer Scott Hannemann and Lexi Hannemann
WELCOME – Rev. Martha M. Shiverick
CALL TO WORSHIP – Bonnie Hannemann
One: How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity!
ALL: It is like the precious oil on the head, running down upon the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down over the collar of his robes.
One: It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion.
ALL: For there the LORD ordained his blessing, life forevermore.
One: Let us worship the God of unity and life!
CALL TO CONFESSION Rev. Dr. David Welton
Invite the Christ, the Light of the World, to walk with you as you rehearse the past 24 hours. Gently sift through the events and encounters. Breathe deeply in and out, imagine things unfolding…
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Give thanks for any gift of the day, and celebrate God’s empowering love at a time when you felt loved or loving…
(silence)
Notice times when you struggled to feel loved or loving, some unrest in your soul, some unresolved tension…
(silence)
Celebrate God’s undefeated love and hear: “I know that and I love you; you are my Beloved”…
(silence)
Ask God, “What grace do I need to name and claim to be more whole today?” Allow a word or phrase, image or metaphor to come to mind. Repeat it slowly with your breathing.
(silence)
ASSURANCE OF PARDON
God has already made you whole, has called you God’s Beloved! Be at peace with yourself and the world. Amen.

THE WORD
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION Bonnie Hannemann
O God, in this quiet moment, silence in us any voice but your own.

THE RESPONSE
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE – Rev. Dr. David Welton
We pray all this in Jesus’ name who also taught us to pray in this manner:
For the Lord’s Prayer we appreciate the diverse traditions and backgrounds that make up the Riviera family of faith, and encourage you to use whatever words for this prayer are meaningful for you.
THE LORD’S PRAYER unison
Our Creator in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. “Let There Be Peace on Earth (and Let It Begin with Me)”
Let there be peace on earth,
And let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth,
The peace that is meant to be.With God as Creator,
We are family,
Let us walk with each other,
In perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me,
Let this be the moment now.
With every step I take,
Let this be my
joyous vow.To take each moment,
And live each moment
In peace eternally,
Let there be peace on earth,
And let it begin with me.
