Food Pantry

ABOUT THE PANTRY MISSION

Riviera Church operates a “no questions asked” Food Pantry for the food insecure in our area.

Prior to COVID, our food pantry primarily served single men without housing who congregated near US 1, supplying about 150 food bags in 2019 on a drop-in basis. With COVID and the resulting economic impacts, the demand for food assistance from our pantry expanded dramatically and the need shifted to primarily family bags. We now host scheduled, twice weekly distribution events.

In 2020, 487 family bags and 79 single bags were distributed. A family bag contains meal supplies for 3-4 people for 3-4 days. A single bag has food for a day, toiletries and new socks.  Riviera is certified as a Hunger Action Congregation by the PC(USA) for its work with the Food Pantry.
