Youth at RPC

Riviera Presbyterian Church

Sunday School

After the Children’s Sermon during Worship, children may go to Sunday school in the church library with Anna E. Rosas, Youth Education & Outreach Assistant, and Josephine Gurri, Nursery Care Giver. Riviera is utilizing the Sunday school curriculum: Come Follow Me: Biblical Practices for Faithful Living from PC(USA).  This curriculum is based on practices Jesus did and taught us to do as faithful followers and the module used is for children and youth.

Reading Group

Our new book for the summer is The Mystwick School of Musicraft by Jessica Khoury. Join us on Sundays at 4:00 pm via Zoom; link available upon request. Anna E. Rosas leads a chapter by chapter reading and discussion of this middle grade fantasy about a girl who attends a boarding school to learn how to use music to create magic. Email Anna at rivierapreschristianed@gmail.com for Zoom link.

Activity Bags are provided to parents of children and youth at Riviera periodically over the summer and contain crafts and other items for parents to share with their children.

Child Care Center Reading Group

Each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Melanie Marsh and Anna Rosas read to the children who attend the Child Care Center adjacent to the church.  During reasonable weather, the group gathers in a shady spot outdoors to hear a new story.

A recent book read is: Black and White by Debora Vogrig. “Black and White are so different—how can they ever get along? White wants to explore the world, but Black would rather stay under the bed. Black is playful and creative; White wants everything neat and tidy. But when Black and White work together, they can go on the most amazing adventures.” Perfect for teaching colors and opposites, Black and White is an imaginative exploration of the joys of diversity. www.goodreads.com
