How do you see God in your life?
Do you see him as the shepherd depicted in Psalm 23?
Guiding and leading you?
Are you like the sheep, needing direction?
Do you feel isolated? Left behind?
We are here for you. To walk together through
the dark valleys of life and to minister to each other.

CALL TO WORSHIP — Karen Collier
The Lord Jesus Christ is our shepherd.
He lays down his life for his sheep.
The Lord Jesus Christ is our shepherd.
He knows us, and we belong to him.
The Lord Jesus Christ is our shepherd.
He speaks, and we listen to his voice.
Let us worship God!
CALL TO CONFESSION — Susan and Christian Mazzola
If we are honest with ourselves, our hearts condemn us. But God, who knows everything, is greater than our hearts; and God’s deep desire for us is mercy, love, and peace. Therefore, let us confess our sin.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Lord, have mercy on us. We talk about love, but our actions betray us.
We talk about love, but we neglect the poor. We talk about love,
but we fail to love one another. Lord, have mercy on us. Forgive us and abide in us by the power of your Spirit so that our lives may show the love taught to us by Jesus Christ. Amen.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON
We seek God’s grace with boldness because we trust in the One who loves us. This is the good news of the gospel: in Jesus Christ we are forgiven.
Thanks be to God!

SCRIPTURE — Karen Collier
Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters; 3he restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff—they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and mercy[f] shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE — Cindy Hershey
With boldness, let us offer our prayers to the shepherd of our souls, saying
God of goodness and mercy, hear our prayers.
We pray for the nations of the world…anoint all leaders with your wisdom
so that they will use their power to help the poor and defend the vulnerable. To use their resources to vaccinate all people.
God of goodness and mercy, hear our prayers.
We pray for this community…strengthen those who work each day to heal the sick, to end racism and oppression, and help our siblings in need.
God of goodness and mercy, hear our prayers.
We pray for friends and loved ones and those we love who we have not yet met…Comfort all who are suffering in this pandemic. walk with them through their valleys of loneliness, of economic and career down turns and of fear.Restore them, mind body, and soul.
God of goodness and mercy, hear our prayers.
THE LORD’S PRAYER
For the Lord’s Prayer we appreciate the diverse traditions and backgrounds that make up the Riviera family of faith and encourage you to use whatever words for this prayer are meaningful for you.
Our Creator, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name.
Your kin-dom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.
For the kin-dom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever.
Amen.
