In the Presbyterian or progressive church, Mission broadly refers to ‘the purpose’ or ‘the calling’ of the church. In our tradition, particular Missions of a given progressive church are defined by the Session, or governing body, of the congregation.
RPC has chosen to define itself in its Mission Statement as “a spiritual community engaged in joyful worship, transforming education, and active service reflecting the path of Christ.”
This encompasses “inclusivity” and active service to others as appropriate responses to Christ’s teachings”, and that we “use our people, building, and money wisely to make a significant impact in our community.” Striving for justice has been the hallmark of Riviera’s historical and on-going efforts.
