In the history of the Church, the 4th Sunday in Lent (like the 3rd Sunday in Advent) is a day appointed for the “lightening” of the solemnity of the Lenten season. To that end, the color of the hangings on pulpit and lectern is “lightened” from a deep, somber purple to a more hopeful rose color.
Remember also to turn your clocks ahead one hour before going to bed on Saturday.
